Before you call
How to compare emergency electrician quotes in Seattle
We could not find a published survey of Seattle emergency electrician rates, so we don't print one. Here is what to ask before anyone comes out.
What to ask about the price
- Coming out: is there a charge to come out, and what does it include?
- After hours: do nights and weekends cost more, and when does that rate start?
- Labor: do you charge by the hour or a flat price for the repair?
- Parts: a breaker or a new panel changes the job, and the permit with it.
Permits on bigger repairs
Electrical permits inside Seattle come from the City, not L&I. A licensed electrician working there deals with the City and should say so. (L&I)
Keeping the bill down
- If power is out to the whole house, check with Seattle City Light for an outage before you call anyone.
- Ask for a make-safe visit tonight and a daytime quote for the full repair.
- Ask whether any charge to come out counts toward the repair.
- Get the price by text before the electrician starts.
